Chiropractic physician are skilled at detecting and locating joint dysfunction. We especially become interested in those joints which are associated with inflammation, spasm and restriction.
Most spinal painful conditions fall into the non specific pain classification, which means that x-rays and MRI scanning will not provide certainty regarding the actual source of the pain. In most non-traumatic cases, a good history and spinal examination is adequate to commence treatment. We will order x-rays or MRI scanning should we have concerns of a serious disc condition or potential spinal pathology.
In accident and injury cases, we are more likely to order x-ray or imaging studies to rule out fractures, disc lesions and other serious injuries.
Diagnosis and Recommendations
Following history and examination we will provide you with our findings, clinical impression and your treatment options. We are usually available to provide same day treatment for acute painful conditions.

Spinal Manipulation – Chiropractic Adjustment
Chiropractors use controlled forces, called adjustments, when there are restrictions around joints that the body cannot stretch out and overcome naturally. Chiropractic physician are skilled at detecting and locating subluxations or joints with dysfunction. Symptomatic joints are frequently associated with inflammation, spasm and restriction. Adjustments provide joint mobility and overcome restrictive barriers such as pain, muscle spasm and inflammation. We utilized traditional diversified technique which incorporates high-velocity, low-amplitude thrusts over restricted joints with the goal of restoring normal joint motion and function. We also perform low force instrument adjustments which deliver a gentle impulse force to the spine with the same goal of restoring normal joint motion and function
Physical Therapy Modalities
Electrical muscle stimulation: During this chiropractic therapy, electrodes are placed on the skin that send light electrical pulses to different areas of the body with the purpose of reducing inflammation, curtailing muscle spasms and relieving back pain.
Traction: A chiropractic traction massage may include the patient lying face up as a system of rollers move about the back, all the while stretching and massaging the muscles in the back.
Ultrasound: With ultrasound, sound waves create deep heat therapy that is applied to the soft tissues and joints. Basically micro-massaging the soft tissues and joints, ultrasound therapy can not only help reduce back pain, stiffness, and spasms, but increase blood flow and accelerate the healing process.
Pelvic stabilization: When leg-length deficiency, flat feet and/or subtalar instability are present, the chiropractor may place a small heel lift in the shoe on the short leg side and/or prescribe corrective arch supports to help stabilize the pelvis.
Spinal strengthening exercise: Specific core strengthening, stretching and stabilization maneuvers provide for optimum outcome and results when combined with chiropractic manipulation.
Our Chiropractic Philosophy
We provide a patient-centered and hands-on approach with focus on restoration of spinal and physical function. Our emphasis is the patient’s recuperative abilities and the relationship of the nervous system. We weigh the therapeutic benefits versus risks of clinical interventions. We monitor clinical progress closely through appropriate outcome assessment procedures. We strive to understand the cause of illness in order to eliminate it, rather than simply treat symptoms. We encourage early intervention with timely diagnosis and treatment of conditions while still functional and reversible.
Relief... Oh Yeah
Many people go to a chiropractor because they are in pain. Our first goal is to reduce your symptoms. Chiropractors use controlled forces, called adjustments, when there are restrictions around joints that the body cannot stretch out and overcome naturally. Adjustments provide joint mobility and overcome restrictive barriers such as pain, muscle spasm and inflammation.
Relief care is usually short term treatment and may require two to three visits per week for a time. Unfortunately, pain is a very poor indicator of health. In fact, pain and other symptoms frequently only appear after a disease or other condition has become advanced. When you begin chiropractic care, pain is also the first symptom to disappear, even though much of the underlying condition remains.
Spinal Rehabilitation – Teaming Up for Optimal Health
Most chiropractors regard the elimination of symptoms as the easiest part of a persons care. Pain relief doesn’t mean that the tissues have completely healed or that function is restored. It is a good start, but it often takes more time for tissues to fully heal properly and it usually requires more time to restore optimum function than it takes for tissue to heal.
Improving function is the key to long term pain relief. Failure to restore function means any pain relief is temporary and increases the risk of chronic pain. Joints that have good function are not painful, perform better and are less likely to be injured or degenerate.
Adjustments specifically applied to joints can restore motion when the body’s own muscles cannot. During spinal rehabilitation you will begin spinal strengthening exercise, stretching and stabilization maneuvers. Typically, one will require less frequent chiropractic adjustments during this time frame. [/tab]
