What are the covered chiropractic services under Medicare?
Spinal manipulation is a covered service under Medicare. Acute, chronic, and maintenance adjustments are all “covered” services, but only acute and chronic services are considered active care and therefore, may be reimbursable. When further clinical improvement cannot reasonably be expected from continuous ongoing care, and the chiropractic treatment moves from corrective to supportive in nature, the treatment is then considered maintenance therapy.
There are no caps/limits in Medicare for covered chiropractic care rendered by chiropractors who meet Medicare’s licensure and other requirements. Coverage extends only to treatment by means of manual manipulation of the spine to correct a subluxation. All other services furnished or ordered by chiropractors are not covered. Excluded services include nutritional supplements, physical therapies (exercise, ultrasound, traction), office visits, supplies (pillows, supports, bracing) and x-rays.
ChiroHealth – Network Discounts
Dr. Herb Oliver provides network discounts through ChiroHealthUSA.
This is a program which provides discounts for most of your chiropractic expenses. Your acceptance is guaranteed and the program can be used by you and members of your immediate family.
While this program is not a replacement for insurance, it can be used to supplement a major medical health insurance policy. As benefits for chiropractic care dwindle, more families are forced to choose between needed chiropractic care and other necessities. Because patients with insurance coverage have the benefit of the carrier negotiating the fees with the doctor, cash paying patients, or those with non-covered services like Medicare beneficiaries, may actually have to pay MORE than insured patients. ChiroHealthUSA allows patients to use the membership concept they are already familiar with to access needed care for the entire family.
Doctors are usually required to charge insurance companies and patients the same fees unless they are under a network contract for a lower fee. ChiroHealthUSA is a contracted network that allows doctors to set and accept discounts on their services for our members. When you join ChiroHealthUSA, you are entitled to similar “in-network” discounts just like the insurance companies.
Health Care Financing
Dr. Herb Oliver is pleased to offer the CareCredit finance option to our chiropractic patients. CareCredit is a personal line of credit for healthcare treatments and procedures for your entire family. It works like a credit card but it has two advantages. It can only be used for healthcare services and you can get No Interest* financing every time you use it. Simply pay your minimum monthly payment and pay off the entire balance by the end of your promotional period and you pay No Interest. If you need more time to pay for your treatment, you can take advantage of extended payment plans with low, fixed interest rates. CareCredit can also be used for vision, dental, hearing and veterinary services with other providers.
Auto accident injuries are usually covered at 100% with no out of pocket expense.
We accept and file claims to “Med-Pay” policies, “Liability” policies, and Attorney cases. We do accept assignment, and payment for services is deferred until settlement of the claim.
Work Related Injuries
Work related injuries are usually covered at 100% with no out of pocket expense.
If you are injured on the job, your care should be paid for under your employer’s Worker’s Compensation insurance. You will need to inform your employer of the accident, file a claim, and obtain the name and address of the carrier of their insurance.
We accept work injury cases that are authorized by your employer or workers’ compensation insurance company. We also accept work injury cases that are represented by an attorney.
